weeks worth of saturdays

This week we've been trying to stay busy with the kids since they are out of school. Todd keeps asking what day it is and then saying, "Geesh, it's like a weeks worth of Saturdays!"

Todd has been off work all week and there has been A LOT of Daddy Time! Hurray! Todd sold his little mini-chopper and used the money to buy the kids a little 110 quad. I wasn't a huge supporter of this idea at first, but just try to tell me that Paige sportin' a helmet and riding around on a quad isn't the cutest thing. Daddy took the kids and went out to a nearby field and they learned how to ride around and had a great time. When they got home, Paige was excited to show Mommy the pictures. She was showing me the pics of herself and told me that she "pulled the helmet down for the pictures so you could see my smile." No problem with vanity here.

We finally made it out hiking. This was a test-run of sorts for Todd's new and improved feet. It's been just over a year since his last achilles heel surgery and the last attempt at hiking did not go well. We're happy to report that Todd gave both feet a thumbs up! Gabriel had the easiest time of it in the backpack - even fitting in a quick nap.

We ate our lunch and rested at the top of the mountain and switched Gabriel's backpack over to me. The kids did a fantastic job hiking. I barely even knew Taylor and Austin were there with us until the end of the hike as they were the speedy trailblazers. They had enough down time at the end of their hike for Austin to tangle with a cactus.

Saturday morning Paige hitched a ride with cousin Hayden and went over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house (in Pine) for an overnighter.

Daddy and Taylor took advantage of their day (mostly) alone and gave the dune buggy a spin. Taylor said I would have been scared and wouldn't do it. I took the opportunity to remind him that I've gone skydiving, cliff-jumping and bungee jumping and could probably handle Daddy's dune buggy driving. (Okay, so I haven't done any of these things in something like 10 years, but it gives me an edge, right?) They did some shooting as well and had a fabulous time. Taylor loves his time with Daddy and is already asking when they can go out again.

As for me, we've got one more week of Saturdays before school starts up again and we can resume a somewhat normal schedule. Until then, we're happy just getting to hang out together.

Dont forget I filled up the first part of the 'week of saturdays' with a giant honey-do list before I got to go out and play.

Rachel, These pictures and stories are so good. I really enjoy looking at them.
