my thursday

The day started off with scurrying the kids out the door so as not to miss the bus. Gabriel has a ritual hug/kiss fest as they leave, so we walked them out to the garage. We waved our goodbyes, closed the garage door, and turned to go inside.

The door was locked. Crap.

With Todd out of town and our closest neighbors at work, our options were limited. Gabriel and I traipsed over to the bus stop in our jammies - no shoes, no bra, no pride. I got the neighbor kid to open his house for me so I could use the phone. Eventually, my Thursday morning saviors got breakfast to Gabriel and climbed a too tall ladder to my opened 2nd story bedroom window.

With much appreciation, I said goodbye. As Amber got in her car to leave, her car wouldn't start. I'm like a little black rain cloud.

Later, Amber and I got ourselves ready to go to a temple session, only to realize that I'd left my recommend at home. Strike three! Is this day over yet?

Well, to top this day off, I was hit with a small reminder that I'm getting old. [Although, there are some people who read this blog that are constantly reminding me ;)] I got to accompany Taylor to a JR. HIGH information meeting for next year's registration. What??!! Didn't I just finish 7th grade? I'm pretty sure... I remember it like it was yesterday!

Really, it wasn't so bad. I'll be fine. He'll do great. I'm (mostly) confident that jr. high is not gonna ruin him. I don't just love him 'cause he's my son - I really kinda like him, too. He's turned out to be a fun kid and I'm proud of him. I sat in the meeting all nervous and excited for this next venture, remembering my own jr. high experiences.

I'm so glad it's him and not me.

Taylor will do just fine. It's funny how much we relive our JR high insecurities when our kids are living through that moment.

Bad day huh? Well it could be worse. So be thankful the window upstairs was open.

Taylor is not supposed to be in Jr. High yet! I remember nana used to say to keep them little she would like to just "pinch their heads off".

yes. happy the window was open and we didn't need a locksmith.

funny to think of sweet nana pinching any heads off. :)

Sounds like one of my days!! That's why the first thing I do every morning as soon as I wake up is Put On That Bra! Even before my glasses, because hey, you never know. We have our Jr.High orientation for Abbie tomorrow. Ack! middle school it makes me shudder to think about it!

Great story telling, Rach. I especially love the "little black rain cloud" reference ;)

I recently had forgotten my recommend {even though I was actually EARLY to the sealing!} I made it for the sealing, but I always feel weird speeding to get to the temple... a bit oxymoronic.
