We started talk of a quick day trip on Tuesday. We decided the destination on Thursday. We left bright and early Friday morning. Our only plan was to get outta town and have a good time.
Destination: La Jolla, CA
Friends: Bill and Crystal. Bill also doubled as our pilot.
We arrived in San Diego at lunch time. Ate seafood by the ocean. Perfect!
By 3:00 we started making arrangements to turn our day trip into an overnighter. (Big. Huge. Thanks. to those taking care of the kiddos)
Walked the beach, nibbled on goodies, enjoyed lovely weather.
Tried sushi for the first time (not in love). Shared a giant Alaskan King Crab for dinner – delicious! Enjoyed the view, good company, and of course, dessert.
Slept in. Ocean view at breakfast.
Went snorkeling. In 58 degree water. Brrr! (But, we’re from Phoenix. We geared up head to toe in attempt to keep the chill out. [I must admit I felt a bit silly when an old lady came in next to us wearing nothing but her suit to go for a swim. Surely she was internally mocking us and our wetsuits.] )
LOVED IT!
We quickly got our things together and got ourselves ready for the day. Which becomes quite easy when you’re packed only for a day trip. I threw on a hat, and called it good enough.
One item on my “bucket list” is to see a lighthouse. We hopped in the car in search for the Point Loma Lighthouse. [I have a new appreciation for the iphone’s gps and it’s time saving navigation.]
Then, we could postpone it no longer.
Make sense?
Not to me either.
…
Except that’s where we could find these guys:
{I kinda like them}

What a dreamy trip! and I love the Winnie-the-Pooh-esque title for this post ;) Am I right??
tanya - you make me laugh. no, it was not a concious pooh reference. though cartoons are on enough around here, that's it's possible it's wearing on me. ;)
