unexpected

Today was a delightfully rainy day. I accomplished a few household chores and Gabriel and I did some baking. Nobody was hurt in the process.

This afternoon I got a call from Faith - There's snow on the mountains! (yah, small things THRILL us). The house behind us blocks our view, so like a wild storm chaser, my camera and I loaded up into the car in search of the coveted snow. In hindsight, I suppose my children may have enjoyed the scene as well, but I was worried about lighting and the cloud cover (both of which turned bad by the time I parked), and left them home with their daddy.

It's made even more beautiful probably, because this is such a rare occurance here. It was a blustery 45 degrees outside, which made our after dinner hot chocolate dessert even more satisfying.

It darkened again and soon the mountain was covered with storm clouds. In true Arizona form, though, we still got to end the evening with a little sunshine and a bonus rainbow.
