getaway

This past weekend we spent up north in Heber. We rented a fabulous cabin with 3 other families. It's been such great spring weather here, that as we were driving north and passing patches of snow, something inside me was screaming 'What are you doing? Go back where it's beautiful.' Of course this weekend had lower temperatures than usual and we had a couple of days of on and off snow flurries. It was chilly, but the kids still got out and braved the weather.

Instead of writing a novel on our activities, I thought I'd do a one to ten tidbit about our weekend:
  • ONE cabin in the pines
  • TWO people went home early due to illness
  • THREE grown men living the rock star dream all night long playing rock band
  • FOUR families under one roof – totaling 25! – 17 children

  • FIVE - number of children who became sick before vacation's end
  • SIX girls in braids - Amber's handiwork
  • SEVEN bedrooms in monster cabin
  • EIGHT - number of hours boys spent making forts

  • NINE – number of times it felt like we ate each day
  • TEN people together in Grandma’s condo all visiting at the same time (our family took a brief pause to visit Todd's grandma about 40 minutes away)
There was also much napping, playing, quad riding, chaos, facials, shooting, zip-lining, dress-up, baby holding and feeding (twins!!), bonding........ And oh, the first morning we woke up, 8 year old Parker came in our room and exclaimed, 'Rachel, I don't know how you sleep with that guy!' He thought Todd sounded like a bear in the middle of the night - he's a gifted snorer.
