san diego in 24 hours

A few weeks ago, Todd had the immense pleasure of chaperoning Taylor’s school trip. The itinerary for this consisted of meeting at the school at 10:30 PM and boarding the bus, driving all night, attempting a few hours sleep. Meeting at the marina at the crack of dawn, boarding a boat and learning about marine life. Following that, they spent the entire day at Sea World. Taylor’s version of the trip was that it was “the best field trip ever”. I’m relieved that he had fun, since we practically had to talk him into going and he appeared to be coming down with something. What kid needs to be talked into a trip to California? Seriously. Todd’s version is only slightly different. ;) Traveling so far in such a short amount of time does not hold much appeal for Todd. Sleeping on the bus was difficult, but he had a good group of kids and enjoyed being with Taylor.

sea world trip

1 – Taylor with his travel buddy ‘G’ at the start of the bus trip looking bright eyed.

2 – their sunrise “cruise”

3 – marine life

4 – the kids waiting for their ‘catch’

5 – a “really impressive, and larger than you would think” submarine

6 – breakfast (i use the term loosely) on the beach!

7 – Taylor rubbing elbows with the bear

8 – Taylor and ‘G’ completing their school packets. Oh, and setting off the alarm when crossing the barrier.

9 & 10 – seal and turtle, obviously

11 – essential churros

12 – a picture of a cool tree, taken just for my benefit

ooh, that is a cool tree.

it sounds like a really fun trip. for kids. i'm tired and cranky just thinking of doing it now, but i'm sure i would've loved it in 6th grade.

When Abbie heard about this field trip (being a former Patterson alumni) her head almost exploded!! Her senior (read 6th grade) trip was to the Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center (aka, the Basha pool...) 6th grade girls, in bathing suits, in front of 6th grade boys. Can you think of anything worse?!? I wish we went to San Diego, hope it was fun!!
